Rachael Wadham

 

Rachael Wadham is a pianist, composer and sound artist based in Metchosin, BC. Rachael began piano studies in her early childhood and followed the Royal Conservatory up to grade 8 before she moved on to Jazz studies at Humber college in Toronto, and finally a Bachelor of composition and theory at the University of Victoria.

During her studies at UVic, Rachael became very interested in prepared piano and extended techniques in improvisation and began studying the works of Morton Feldman, Christian Wolff, John Cage, Mauricio Kagel, and many others. As a composer, Rachael has taken part in numerous workshops and festivals throughout Canada and overseas and was a  co-founder of the Fernwood Difficult Music Society in 2002.

In 2010, Rachael co-founded Dancing the Parenting, a music and dance group that focuses on creating and performing works with parents and children. She is currently a founding member of triPOD, an improvising dance and music group based in Victoria.

Rachael teaches piano at the Westshore Music Academy.
